My great grandfather, John Clark Tomlin, according to
the 1880 Census of Montgomery County, Alabama Beat 8
was born in Georgia to a North Carolina born father &
a Georgia born mother. He as 22 or 23 at time of census. He married by great grandmother, Roxie Catherine Jackson in 1879. My grandfather, Roy Laitten
Tomlin was born June 29, 1881. I understand John Clark
Tomlin died when Roy Laitten Tomlin was very young.
My great grandmother married J. C. Conner. The family
moved to Texas unsure of when. My grandfather married
Hattie Bell Duke in Texas. They had 5 boys, Clarke
Milford, Clifton Leroy, Orion Laitten,Ross Lee and
Onis Buford. My grandfather was in an explosion at
Magnoia Oil Refinery (now Exxon Mobil) in 1920 and
died the following day. My father was about 13 at the
time. The Tomlin family origins are very vague. I can't go back before John Clark Tomlin. Can anyone
help?
