Can anyone help me obtain some information about the history of the surmame Mcpetrie. My granfathers name is James Mcpetrie and was the first Scottish tenant farmer to buy his farm in 1972, located in the deeside district named The Mains of Balfour. Trying to settle a long standing disagreement with my father known as James Alexander McPetrie aged 57, nicknamed "Jimpy".
