: My sincere apologies for the delay in replying only it has been a crazy year. I have been to Africa ( a family reunion), moved house and have just settled down again, hence the time to now resume writing. It was terrific hearing from you all and I feel that there must be some connection between us all - let's face it there can't be that many Akonoms in the world.

A little more detail. My grandfather's name was Jan Akonom (born in/around Warsaw)and he married my grandmother Maria Aleksandrowicz. My grandfather's mother died when he was young and his father remarried and had a further family.

My father, Stanislaw, was one of four children - Genowefa (Genia), Stanislaw, Jozefa (Zuita) and Teresa. He was born in Stolpce (now in Russia) in January 1927. His uncles emigrated to America in the early 1900's.

If this means anything to you please contact me again (on my new e-mail address) and I promise I will contact you sooner. Here's hoping!!!

Irena.
