the name heagney is now spelt eagney in the moate area my primary teacher in moate was a lovely lady agnes eagney died a few months back in the 80 age braket lots of the family still in moate just the spelling changed the family supposedly came here in the 1840 s famine times and were reffered to locally as the shamrock settlers
