Searching for ancestry or relatives of THOMAS JOSEPH MULDOWNEY, born circa 1892, from Aghataharn, Kilkelly, Co Mayo, Ireland. THOMAS’ father’s name was MARTIN MULDOWNEY. THOMAS was going to visit his Cousin MARTIN MULDOWNEY, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. THOMAS met my mother, MARY ELLEN BURKE of Gortamarle (Parke), Co Roscommon, Ireland on the ship "CARMANIA." Arrived New York City, Ellis Island, 27 Apr 1913 via Queenstown, Co Cork, Ireland. They married and settled in Chicago Jul 1913 and divorced Feb 1931. The Irish 1911 Census shows the following information: Townland: Aghataharn; Parish: Aghamore; Barony: Costello; County: Mayo; Household: MULDOWNEY, MARTIN, age 59, farmer; Wife: HONORIA, age 40; PATRICK, age 24; MARY, age 22; THOMAS, age 20(MY MOTHER’S FIRST HUSBAND); MARTIN, age 14; & ANNIE, age 8. There is also listed a HUBERT & MARY MULDOWNEY and Children. This could be MARTIN’S younger Brother. Some of this data matches data furnished on Carmania’s Passenger List.
