My name is Edgar 'Rodger' Goodbary, & I am a great-grandson of Lt. Jacob Oscar "Jake" Shoop, 1829-1884, & Martha Jane "Mattie" (Speer) Shoop, 1830-1921. Mattie (Speer) Shoop's parents were Robert Speer, 1791-1880, & Barbara (Lowry) Speer, 1797-1835, (first wife of Robert Speer). Robert Speer had nineteen children by his three wives. Robert Speer's father was John Speer. Barbara Lowry's parents were Adam Lowry, 1750-1840, & Nancy (Adams) Lowry, 1757-1810.
We have a great amount of information regarding the Speer & Shoop families; however, it is not in a very good form. I hope to enter the information, along with the pictures into Family Tree Maker within the next few months.
We will be glad to share with you what information & family pictures that we have on the extended family.
