: I dont have alot of information but from what I can gather happened in Australia, my grandad was Richard Fermaner son of David Fermaner who worked on a whaling ship which sank. I recall reading somewhere that he survived. It appears that he was based in Victoria. I think the surname originates from England - not Ireland as alot of people believe (Fermanagh County).
