I have Josef PETER , his son was Karl PETER, and his grandson was Georg PETER, from Altparisau, West Bohemia.

: I agree, it came from Europe. Actually, many came from Alsace-Lorraine, France. Then in the 1790's they came over to Canada. Once over in the US some of the family members dropped the s on the end and it became Peter. That is my last name, but my 4x great grandfather had an s on his name making it Peters.
