Could anyone shed light on my name. I cannot understand why a very working class family with roots in London's East End at least at the turn of the century (1900)would have this double barrelled name which is on birth certs.As I understand it this sort of name was generally the perogative of the "better class" My father didn't know ,or his father. Any theories? Perhaps they didn't care.
