My great great grandfather was Joseph Farmaner. Both he and his brother David were in Australia in the 19th century. Joseph returned to the UK in 1866 but David died in Australia.I too have found many spelling variations - both Joseph and David were baptised as Fermanagh, and Devid was know as Fermaner.
