I really don't know how long ago that you posted your message, but we share a similar quest and I am hoping that you can tell me about your search and helpful suggestions to continue my search for my Indian ancestry. As a child I was always told that my great-grandma was a full-blood Cherokee Indian. Her name was Sarah Ellen Andrews. She and Henry Wilbur Roush had a child on 7/20/1904, Hattie Pearl Roush. I do not know if they were married only that they both listed Clay Township, Highland County, Ohio as their place of residence. My father's name was Lyman O. Rhoads, but his birth certificate listed "Roush" as his last name. He was born 6/1/1921. All of these people are dead now and can no longer answer my questions. I felt lucky to find this much information in the Highland County court house records. I never knew many of my father's relatives very well. I remember my mother's reluctance to go around them and her negative attitude regarding my father's grandparents, who raised my father. Very risque living arrangements and references to my great-grandmother's indian heritage. If you have any suggestions on my next step to confirm/or not my roots, I would appreciate hearing back from you. Bye. Sandy.
