This is what I found for Opal Dell LEDSON, born 19 June 1909, died 11Aug.1949 in San Francisco. Father last lived in Hanford, CA.

Stanley Robert LEDSON, b. 1 May 1869, died in Mariposa on 30 Aug. 1950. His mother's maiden name was McIntyre. He was not born in America.

There is a Robert LEDSON, b. 2 Feb. 1902 in Iowa, who died 27 January 1972 in Merced (near Mariposa). Could this be Opal's husband, and Stanley Robert be this man's father?

In the Social Security Death Index found at Ancestry.com, are 22 LEDSON deaths - some in the Sonoma, Solano and San Francisco counties - the area you mentioned.

Two LEDSON men served in WWI - Wilfred B. LEDSON, b. 5 Sept. 1910, whose mother's maiden name was Hough. He lived in San Francisco.

The other is George Ledson, b. 2 Aug. 1899 in Iowa and died 1 Oct 1974 in Fresno County. He lived at Mariposa (this is by the great Yosemite National Park, and also Merced)

A LEDSON Family Bible with 1800's genealogy data was on the e-Bay auction site some while back. It was item 400462550. I contacted e-Bay and the data base with this item number no longer exists. Have sent a letter asking if they would share the e-mail address of the purchaser of the LEDSON Bible in hopes you can write to them and offer to pay if they will send you copies of the data. The address is e-Bay, Inc., 2145 Hamilton Ave., San Jose, CA 95125. If correspondence is received from e-Bay, it will be posted here for you.

You could write to the California Vital Records office in Sacramento for a copy of your grandmother's death certificate. Sometimes these documents yield additional information, such as the name of the person providing the vital records data, and the name of the undertaker/funeral parlor. They may have additional information or names of persons you could contact. Death certificates cost $8.00, but it takes a very long time to get them (I waited three months).

If time permits, I will contact the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper to see if an Obituary appeared for your grandmother, Opal - of any mention of her death in any newspaper articles. In the meantime, you may wish to do a posting on usgenweb.com under the State of California, County of Merced and also Fresno County - to see if anyone will contact you who may have known Opal or her husband, or son.

I'd like to honor Ms. Diane Brown, Vancouver, B.C., Canada with thanks at this time. She helped me unravel my great-grandfather's death/murder back in 1914 by doing for me what I have attempted to do to help you, Tina. It was Christmas time last year - what I great gift she gave me - with her own hands and out of her heart.

One day maybe you'll help others and pass the gift along.

: My residence is in Sonoma County and office is in San Francisco. I will try to locate some data for you. Is there any additional information on the incident you can provide? City of Sonoma in Napa County is driving distance. Am a member of the Sonoma Co. Genealogical Society. Please give me at least three weeks because of my full-time employmen.
