: Seeking any info on Abijah/Ahijah CORBIN of Yorktown, Westchester Co., NY and his wife Tamara Hughson, marr. 30 June 1791, Hanover Presby. Ch., Yorktown, Westchester Co., NY. Their son, John marr. Hannah (?) in St. Catharines, Ont. Their grandson, David CORBIN, married Phoebe Flewellyn/Flewelling, d/o Aaron Flewelling,18 December 1856, Yorktown, NY. They all emigrated to Ontario, Canada before or around 1860.

Hi Joan,
I am presently trying to compile a work on Robert and Maplet Flewellings family. In it I have Phoebe (Flewwellin) Corbin as the daughter of Coles Flewwellin, Aaron's brother. This is based on a suit in which all of the descendants of Robert and Martha (Wright) Flewwellin were named in 1908. Often, the husband's given name was not included, but it is indicated that Coles daughter, Phoebe, m. _____ Corbin. I am, of course, not certain that there has not been an error. The following is part of the work.

is written the following:

At its 35th annual national convention at the Downtown Doubletree Hotel in Tulsa, Okla., the American Council of the Blind awarded its 1996 scholarships to 25 outstanding blind students from throughout the country. The awards were given to students in academic and professional curricula at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Hundreds of qualified blind and visually impaired students applied for these honors. Eighteen of the winners and other students were able to attend the convention with the assistance of a grant to the American Council of the Blind by the NYNEX Corporation and Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. The winners were honored on Thursday, July 4 during the convention's plenary program.

DELBERT K. AMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Dawn Flewwellin, BS - Rehabilitation, Northern State University.

The American Council of the Blind would not be able to award these scholarships without the financial support of the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind, the Tarver Memorial Fund, National Industries for the Blind, Mr. & Mrs. Russ Pekar, Visually Impaired Data Processors International, Mrs. Audrey Hebner, the South Dakota Association of the Blind, the Commonwealth Council of the Blind, the Bay State Council of the Blind, and the ACB of Colorado.
