Help needed from distant relatives esp.from Staffordshire and Portsmouth. My father,Francis Sweeney is the eldest son of his family. His father was Christopher Sweeney, his father was Patrick and was in the Navy in the World War 1 & was decorated by the French Government for being involved in liberating French territory in the Pacific.I know that my Great Grandfather was married in Portsmouth R.C.Cathedral as we have a copy of the wedding certificate. My Grandfather settled in Liverpool while some of the family settled in the Southsea area of Portsmouth. I am attempting, with the help of my cousin Nina Spray (daughter of Josephine Baldwin (nee Sweeney) who resides in Runcorn Cheshire to piece together the various branches of the Sweeney family. We have visited Dublin, Ballinasloe & Donagal in the Republic of Ireland & have visited the war memorial in Southsea to pay our respects to Daniel Sweeney - who I was named after.I would love to hear from any of you Sweeney's out there -especially those from Southsea as I only live up the road in Southampton & I would love to add your stories to the ones I already have to go on a planned web site.I am hoping that this will become a gateway for Sweeney's who have travelled far and wide. Total confidentiality is guaranteed & you WILL NOT BE CONTACTED if you do not wish to be. Thank you for any help that you can give me. Daniel Christopher Sweeney
