There used to be a lot of Suggitts in Slingsby in Yorkshire. My father and brother visited there and looked through the church records last year.
Having put their names in the visitors book, they got a letter from a John William Suggitt of 15 Midland Road, Bramhall, Stockport, SK7 3DY
My father also has some other info, not that it really seems to lead to the Harrogate or Durham area. If you want to call him, the number is 01507 466974.
There is a site on the internet www.192.com which lets you search the electoral role and BT phone directory for the whole country. They sell a database system called UK-Info-Disk which allows more extensive searching (it's about £50).
[I have used this myself to locate people I was at university with in 1975 for a class reunion.] My copy is now a year out of date and will only run on my PC at the office, not at home.
