I'm from Slovenia (from ex Yugoslavia) and I can help You a little about searching relatives.
My mother was born in Spodnja Senica, near Ljubljana in parochia Sora. Her family name was, until she get married, Koshenina (respectively Košenina; sign š is written as s with a little v above it and is pronounced as "SH" in English). Her's father (Jernej) had a half-brother France (Frank in English), who went to America (my mother doesn't know the state in which he settled up). There he became a farmer and he had many of clildren. France (Frank) also has had brother Johan and sisters Meta and Micka.
