I am the 4 x great grandson of Stephen and Elizabeth Streeter from Hunton, Kent. I have the date of baptism for Sophia as 15/3/1821.
My story goes something like this, Stephen and Elizabeth had several children:-
1. Stephen
2. Sophia
3. Anne
4. Thomas
Stephen married Ellen in about 1840 and they had several children:-
1. Stephen
2. Charles
3. William
Their son Stephen became a private coachman, he drove a coach and horses from Maidstone to Hastings, one of the stops on the way was the coach house at Hurst Green in Sussex. Lodging there as a servant was Rhoda Matilda Croft, the daughter of Gains Chester Croft and his wife Mary. They got married in 1867 at Salehurst Parish Church and had 9 children, and moved to Hastings.
One of their children was my great Grandfather George Wallace Streeter (b1871) who became a private cabman after being a coachman and groom.
His son was George Charles Streeter, My Grandfather, and his son, was my father Captain Gordon Wallace Streeter.
We believe that the Streeters in Hunton and East Farliegh near Maidstone arrived there when the Streeters from Goudhurst passed through on their way to board a ship at Chatham to migrate to America around 1650ish with a stephen Streeter (b1714) married to another Elizabeth staying in the parish, they had a son Thomas Streeter (b12 feb 1747) and several other children, and Thomas who was married to Ellen had a son Stephen (b13/2/1778) who married Elizabeth.
