Great-great-great-grandfather was John Hurst, Sr.,b. 1732, Shenandoah C.,VA, d.1825, Harrison Co., IN. Md.Mary Lindsey, widow of Wm. Lindsey who was wounded at the Battle of Guilford Court House in Rev. War. Each had 10 children and 1 of their own, son Beverly Hurst, who, with cousins from the Harrison County Yellow Jackets fought with Wm. H. Harrison at the Battle if Tippecanoe. John's daughter, Leah, md. her step-brother, Jesse Lindsey and John's son, Elijah, md. step-sister Mary Lindsey. They left VA. moved thru Eastern TN, where some droped off, moved into KY where some dropped off, & settlrd in Harrison Co.,IN, early 1800s, and est. Hursttown. Jesse settled in Dubois Co., IN. One son Lorenzo Dow Lindsey had 17 children,one of which was John Thomas Lindsey, who settled in Greene Co.,IN,who had 15 children, one of which was Dexter D. Lindsey (1901-97) was my father. Lorenzo had children in Pike and Gibson Co. also. John Hurst had children and grand children scattered all over souhern IN. Related surnames, Anderson, Brittain, Cooper, Dyer, Mavity, Cravens, Charley, Harmon, Dunn, Menifee & too many others to mention here.
