Hello,

According to my mother's parents, Clarence E. (Kayo) Mullins and Ella (Richardson) Mullins-- both of whom are now deceased-- there was Native American ancestry in both their backgrounds.

If I remember correctly my Grandfather "Kayo" was born in Virginia (1902?) and raised in Kentucky (maybe visa versa), we believe there is Cherokee in his background. George Mullins and Edna Alice (Coleman) Mullins were his parents and he came from a family of 15 children, they were raised in a large stone house, built by George, which supposedly still stands today. My Grandfather's family descends from the Mullins' who came over on the Mayflower.

My Grandmother Ella was born in Troutdale Oregon (1911), we know virtually nothing about her father, Wiley Richardson, but believe he could also have been from Native American ancestry. Her mother's name was Anna Laura (Hensley) Richardson, she was also born in Troutdale Oregon, and her family came over on the Oregon Trail.

We have a written family history, which apparently contains a letter (written by an ancestor on her deathbed) that mentions something about the Native American Indian background in my Grandfather's family...unfortunately another family member has possession of the family history and will not let my mother or myself view this letter.

Any help anyone might be able to provide me with in researching my family's Native American/Cherokee heritage would be very greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

--Lisa (aka "Thumper") Tadic
