Hi, My husband is Norwegian and the first of his relatives was named Ingbret..then later it was Engebret's SON , forming Engebretson as a last name...I have seen in his lineage that several women were named, for example--
Astrid Eriksdtr.Engebretson, meaning the datter of Erik..I would go to the library and ask for a book on it..I am sure the librarian would be more than happy to help you find out all about it..
