Researching HOLMES family in England and U.S. My ggg.grandfather, JOHN HOLMES was from GUNNERSIDE,N.Yorkshire,England. Parents were James & Eliziabeth(HARKER)HOLMES. John was b.1806;baptized at Wesleyan Meth. Church,Gunnerside,Grinton Parish. Some of his siblings were: James;Hannah;George;Matthew;Joseph;&Ralph HOLMES. John's aunt,Mary Holmes,b.c.1770 in Yorkshire married a Timothy HUNT. One of their children, Henry HUNT m. Elizabeth CLEMENSON. The HUNTS also came to America. John Holmes and Henry & Eliz. Hunt came to America in 1830,arriving at Philadelphia. Would appreciate any info.
