Last January when it was cold and rainy, Luther came into my room at the Sale House in Red Bluff and poked my leg with his forefinger. I had pants on and I still felt it. Quite invisable he is. The preceding month at Christmas I discovered that he brandishes the law. I went outside to smoke on my parents' back porch and was
quite alarmed when I heard the loud sound of what I thought was a horse snarling. Just lately I had no cigarettes and I craved one desperately. I took a shower and when I finished and dressed myself I found one curled and bent cigarette under my pants. Luther gave it to me, I Knew that. Then when I was outside I found a watchband pin in my change pocket. Here Luther saw that my dad had a variety of watches when I was at his house. I used one of my dad's pins to repair my own watch. But had left all of the unused ones there, I made mental note of it.
Thus: " The miser wouldn't give the pauper a dollar for a watch."...Luther Hughes; get it, I'll get my dad an expensive gold pocket watch for Christmas.
