I have here "the Holy Bible, Old and New Testaments Translated out of the original tongues, with the Apocrypha, Concordance, and Psalms; The Text conformable to the Orinal Edition of the year of our Lord 1610, And the American Society's Original Standard Edition of 1816 (William W. Harding 1860)."
There are many ensignatured names therein and newspaper
clippings. It appears that John or Rachael put them on a blank page in it(Ella, Luther, Joseph and Harry) very ornate precious writting indeed. Harry Rapp to dad. Apparently when Luther died he willed it to Harry.
It's definately the Hughes Family Bible but it belongs
to my dad. What are we going to do about that- ? See
we're not exactly rich but that doesn't bother us.
A must for the Hughes Family is a 61/2x 11 book entitled Pohatcong: The Prologue A history of the people of Pohatcong. These are the founders, polititions, doctors and lawyers of Pohatcong Twnshp.
N.J.(the Hunts, the Carpenters, and the Hughes and many more) These are the roots of our rich heritage.
John Hughes and Hugh Hughes history as well as many other Hughes' are there. The 17th and 18th centuries were busseling there. The Hughes family cemetary is mostly a flush marker in an old field near a farm. The book was Printed by Sheridan Pring Co. Inc. Alpha, N.J.
for the Bicentennial Celebration Project. Sit back, put your feet up, brace yourselves, and enjoy.
