August Cziborowski, born Oct.15,1892 in Langendreer, Germany.
August was a Merchant marine and worked as a "Trimmer" on the steamship GUNDRUN from July 17 1914 to September 6, 1915. Then he worked in the graphite mine "STA. MARTHA" in Sao Fidelis. from September 27, 1915 to December 25, 1915. After working in the mines he made his way to the United States and he was once again employed as a Merchant Seaman. Then working as an"Oiler" on the S.S.Terre Haute from Aug. 07,1920 to Jan. 12, 1922...He served on the U.S.S. Gulfmaid. April 10, 1922 to June 14,1922.
Finally settled in the United States, married an Irish girl (Bridget Doherty) raised 4 children, James, Catherine, Richard, and Helen.
August changed the spelling of his surname from CZIBOROWSKI to CIBROSKI when he became a citizen of the US. He died on Jan. 20, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA.
I was interested to know if anyone had any contacts in Germany to see if there is any extended family of August still around His brothers and sisters would all be gone now, but there might be younger ones by that name.
I have letters that were written to him during the years 1934-1945, but they are in German. Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Catherine (cbayne@netcarrier.com )
