I am researching my Wroten/Roten back ground. My roots were said to have settled in Eastern Shore, Dorchester County ABT 1670's. Most of the older Generation of my family have passed on and I can only research back so far in time. The lasted information that I have is Charles Roten b.July 5,1849 in Maryland married Mary F.L. Smith b. May 29,1843 in Maryland. They lived in Baltimore, Maryland had 6 children. In the 1880 Maryland Census the last name was listed as Roten then in the Early 1900's was then listed as Wroten and is still Wroten. The children of Charles and Mary Roten/Wroten are:
Jennie B.1874,
Emma J. Roten-Neill b.Jan 2,1878,
Charles William Roten b.Jan30,1883,
Jesse Roten b.Aug.13,1886,
Lilly May Roten-Parks b.May4,1889,
Alice R. Roten-Hoofnagle b.July17,1891
They are all buried in Baltimore, Maryland. I am having problems locating beyond Charles and Mary. I am to beleive that the name Roten was changed beyond that.
If anyone can help please let me know. I have information from Charles and Mary Roten to today.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can also locate me on Ancestry.com
Thanks,
Anne
